whose recommendations should be on record at the Colonial

Office.

4. In April 1915 I volunteered for service in

the war, and have been constantly employed by the Admiral-

-ty since Jane of that year in France and Italy, and an

now stationed at Genoa, where I hold the important and very

responsible post of Convoy Officer, where my duties cover

the Italian Coast from the French frontéer to the Tiber,

and the Convoy Routes from and to the ports there situated,

both open sea and coastal. In France, in the Naval Trans-

-port service, I was sent to several ports to organise the

service there, and have been in charge of other ports which

required reorganisation, with the result of a considerably

increased output, in one case amounting to over 100 %.

I mention these facts to show the executive and adminis-

-trative duties entrusted to me.

Ḥ. At the expiration of the war, when I again revert to my Colonial post, I shall probably be within a

few months of my 55th birthday, when I shall be able to

claim a pension from the Hongkong Government; but such
